3 Cups of Tea

I am currently reading a great book about a guy called Greg Mortenson a mountaineer/nurse who gets lost in the remote mountains of Pakistan and finds a village where he is welcomed and looked after.The people are very poor but they go out of their way to be kind to him.He promises he will return one day and build them a school as they have no school and he wants very much that the girls get an education too.As of today there are 171 schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan thanks to Greg and the foundation he helped create.54,000 girls now get an education in these countries .I really believe that girls/women are the answer to peace in these countries and by educating the women they are creating such a positive force for the future .

It's a fascinating story ,he has such a good heart ,in one part he is captured and held for 1 week by the Taliban.The title is best described by ...."The first time you share tea with a Balti you are a stranger ,the second time you share tea you are an honoured guest,the third time you share tea you are family " We know so little about the people who live in these areas it is so interesting to get a first hand account from someone they trust.

Saturday night we were all invited to my friend Kims as she had 2 musicians performing at her house .Kims husband had funded them both through Kickstarter ,this amazing site that allows you to browse artists and help them realise their dreams or just give them a help to create their next project.Well In this case Dan ( Kims husband) had helped finance their next albums.Hence the free home concerts .So  we were entertained by Shakey Graves  and Matt The Electrician .Both were really entertaining and I especially loved Shakey's music ,they were both kind of folksy  .It has totally gotten me inspired to check out Kickstarter ,what an amazing idea.

Bircher Muesli

I lived in Liechtenstein (small principality ) beside Switzerland for a year .The food was divine and I put on a lot of weight. My favourite thing to eat there was Bircher Muesli .This is basically yogurt mixed with rolled oats,bananas,apples and nuts with honey to sweeten.There are a million different versions.I remember coming home from my travels abroad and making Bircher Muesli for my Mom and my little brothers and sisters,they devoured it ,it was so yummy .Well recently while in Las Vegas while staying at The Mirage I had the chance to dine at their buffet for breakfast .Well I kid you not the Bircher Muesli they served was Delicious ,I would eat 3 bowls of the stuff it was so good.Once I seen a lady wander out of the kitchens and I followed her ,cornered her and got her to tell me every single ingredient they put in their Bircher Muesli.I have tried in vain to replicate it but alas it is not as good.She told me they mixed Oats,natural yogurt ,a little milk,raisons,blueberries,bananas,a little honey and chopped pecans.You are suppose to leave it to settle ,the raisons get plump the oats soften ,I usually do not have the willpower. I have been craving a bowl since I came home .

Super 8

I went to see this Friday night ,it is classic Spielberg part The Goonies, part ET ,part War of the worlds.I really enjoyed it .The kids were funny in it ,I really hope when my sons are this age we will communicate better than some of the parents in this film.I can only hope for the best :)
It also makes you wonder that if anything like this really happened ( another life form comes to our planet) would we lock it up ,tortue it and be so cruel instead of trying to help and the answer is sadly, probably Yes

Long Skirts

I absolutely adore this ,so simple but so perfect ,Kate Bosworth in Jil Sander
I love long skirts ,I picked one up in H&M ,mine was more the long floral hippy type ,I expected Marc to hate it but he actually said I looked very cute .I paired it with sandals,tiny black waistcoat and my hoop earrings ,got alot of compliments (Love when that happens)

The trick with long skirts is they need to be almost hitting the ground
